i-gotU GT-600に続いてGlobalSat DG-100でも問題発覚。

ドライババージョン 3.3.2.102

USBポートに接続して電源を入れても認識しないので、デバイスマネージャーを診たところ

このデバイスを開始できません。 (コード 10)

というエラーが出ていた。

すぐにUSB to Serial Bridgeに関するWindows 10対応の問題とわかったものの、ProlificのPL2303 Windows Driver Downloadからv1.12.0をインストールしたがダメだった。

そこでUS Globalsat:Drivers And Downloadsをチェックしたところ「Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, XP USB Driver:(For 32-bit & 64-bit)」という形でWindows 10対応ドライバはあったものの

(Supports the following devices: BU-353-S4, ND-105C, ND-100S, DG-200, BR-305-USB8 USB Cable Set)

という補足があり、DG-100だけがサポート対象から外れている事に気付いた。

その後、東京通商、DG-100 GPS データロガーのFAQをチェックしたところ、

DG-100はWindows 8に対応しておりません。US GLOBALSAT公開のPL-2303ドライバーをインストールし、デバイスドライバーの自動更新を行わない。設定を行って頂く事でWindows 8でもご利用頂けます。

と書いてあった。そういえば、Windows 8でもDG-100のログを吸い上げた記憶が無い。

ProlificのPL2303 Windows Driver Downloadの「NOTE」には

Windows 8/8.1/10 are NOT supported in PL-2303HXA and PL-2303X EOL chip versions.

と書いてあり、リンク先のアナウンスメント

Prolific Full-Speed USB to Serial bridge controller PL-2303HX(Chip Rev A) and PL-2303X (Chip Rev A) will be phased out (EOL) at the end of October, 2012. Both will be replaced by the new PL2303TA which is pin-to-pin compatible with PL-2303HXA and PL-2303XA PCB. Please refer to the PL2303TA PCN, Datasheet, and Migration Guide for more information.

によると、PL-2303HXAとPL-2303XAは2012年10月に"EOL"(End-of-Life)となっているので、PL-2303HXD(Rev D)やPL-2303TAに乗り換えろという事らしい。

Windows10でPL2303を無理やり動かす等によると、バージョン1.5くらいのドライバを入れておいて、デバイスマネージャーからダウングレードすれば動くそうなのだが、気付かぬうちにアップデートされていざという時に動かないというパターンはよくある話なので、Family Software Drag RacingのNewsletter#37, Prolific PL-2303 Driver Solution for Code 10によると、64bits版は唯一3.3.2.102だと大丈夫らしく、特定のポートにドライバ版数が紐付くようにパッケージした「PL2303_64bit_Installer.exe」をインストールして対処した。

Please be warned that counterfeit (fake) PL-2303HX (Chip Rev A) USB to Serial Controller ICs using Prolific's trademark logo, brandname, and device drivers, were being sold in the China market. Counterfeit IC products show exactly the same outside chip markings but generally are of poor quality and causes Windows driver compatibility issues (Yellow Mark Error Code 10 in Device Manager). We issue this warning to all our customers and consumers to avoid confusion and false purchase.

によると、「PL-2303 HX」の模造品が出回った為に「PL-2303HX (Chip Rev A)」と「PL-2303X (Chip Rev A)」は"EOL"(End-of-Life)となったそうな。
